Birds of a Feather

Birds of a Feather

Four men, four identical tutus, one shared passion. “Birds of a Feather” is an ode to togetherness and the power of belonging.
The men, each with their own personality, form a close-knit group. They find support in each other, share their dreams, and together brave the challenges of the dance world.
This was my first painting about this subject. My coach encouraged me to paint more about this colourful world of dragqueens.

No More Masquerade

No More Masquerade” captures a moment of liberation. After the applause, the masks can come off. A figure in the shadows pulls a mask from their face, their expression tired but relieved.

This painting is about the roles we play, the masks we wear. But ultimately, we long for authenticity, for the freedom to be ourselves.

The Naked Queen

An intimate moment, a glimpse behind the scenes of drag life. Patsy Prozac, sits half-naked and vulnerable in her dressing room. The shopping bag symbolizes the everyday.

There is always more than what we see at first glance. Behind the masks and the glitter lies a human being with all their complexity and vulnerability.

Oscar’s Portrait

Two sides of the same coin. Oscar’s tattoos are his ‘drag,’ a way of shaping his identity. But underneath lies a warm heart, an animal lover.

Friends for Life

Dogs are men’s best friend. They look at your heart.

Bent not Broken

From abdication to Reclaiming: A Crown on My Life

This is a story of letting go and reclaiming. In the first portrait, I wear a striking dress, once worn by Karin Bloemen, with the crown in my hand. This symbolizes the moment I relinquished my ‘kingdom,’ a difficult period.
But even during this difficult period, i was surrounded by my favorite plants and the darkness was actually behind me.

Back on the Throne.

This portrait shows me with the crown, but now proudly on my head. My gaze radiates strength and self-acceptance. I have taken back control of my life.

This diptych is a metaphor for my inner journey. It shows how, after a period of letting go and uncertainty, I rediscovered my own strength. It is an ode to authenticity and self-love, to embracing who I really am.

A Royal Gathering

My inner Kingdom

On the canvas, you see a man on a throne, a majestic cat on his lap, and a flamboyant drag queen by his side. These three figures together embody the essence of who I am, my inner kingdom.
I embrace various sides of myself: my strength and my vulnerability, my serious and my playful side, my masculine and my feminine energy.
This painting was also a playful exercise of dark and light.

Love’s Gentle Revolution

My last painting in this series had to be light and loving. Romantic with a naturalness about a love that conquers everything. A quiet and gentle revolution, a silent but unique force called love.
